چکیده

Abstract Environmental contamination with Cr (VI) has recently attracted public attention because of its high concentration in soil and wastewater originating majorly from anthropogenic activities natural processes. Reduction to (III) is a feasible method for minimizing chromium pollution. This work aimed at characterizing the effects reduction conditions batch experiment such as temperature, hydrogen ion concentration, time, reactant concentrations, well kinetics thermodynamics reaction using Tamarindus indica methanol leaves extract reductant. was meaningfully affected by concentrations. The followed pseudo-second-order kinetic model ( R 2 = 0.997) pH 2; neutral alkaline (7 9), predominantly obeyed first order 0.988) pseudo-first 0.758), respectively. Under various retains negative free energies, enthalpy change, positive entropy. findings this study suggested be spontaneous, exothermic, orderly unstable. We concluded that phytocompounds present tamarind demonstrated strong potentials converting and, thus, could applicable contaminated treatment.

Biosorption of aqueous chromium(VI) by Tamarindus indica seeds.

The effectiveness of low cost agro-based materials namely, Tamarindus indica seed (TS), crushed coconut shell (CS), almond shell (AS), ground nut shell (GS) and walnut shell (WS) were evaluated for Cr(VI) removal. Batch test indicated that hexavalent chromium sorption capacity (q(e)) followed the sequence q(e)(TS) > q(e)(WS) > q(e)(AS) > q(e)(GS) > q(e)(CS). Due to high sorptive capacity, tamar...

Anti-Inflammatory and Antinociceptive Activities of a Hydroethanolic Extract of Tamarindus indica Leaves

The present study aimed to investigate the anti-inflammatory and anti-nociceptive potential of a hydroethanolic extract of Tamarindus indica L. leaves (HTI) along with its possible mode of action. The anti-inflammatory activity of HTI was estimated by carrageenan-induced hind paw oedema in male Wistar albino rats. Furthermore, HTI was assessed to determine its effects on membrane stabilization....

Acute toxicity and hepatotoxicokinetic studies of Tamarindus indica extract.

Tamarindus indica is widely used as a food and beverage and in traditional medicine. The apparent lack of dose standardization in herbal medicine necessitates the evaluation of the lethality T. indica on Artemia salina nauplii and chicken embryos via in vitro and in vivo techniques. Furthermore, hepatotoxicokinetics of the crude extract and fractions on Wister rats was also assessed. At concent...

BIOLOGICAL Cr(VI) REDUCTION

Scientific interest on chromium removal from water and wastewater has escalated recently. Chromium compounds exist in the environment naturally but are mostly found due to anthropogenic activities (tanning, paint, cement industries, etc.). Hexavalent chromium [Cr(VI)] is of major environmental importance because it is one of the most stable chromium forms found in the environment. It is soluble...
